MacOS 9 includes
all the software you need to allow your Macintosh
computer to dial in to Niagara Internet and connect
directly to the Internet.
1. Go to the
Applications folder on your hard drive and
locate the Internet folder.
2. Click on the
Internet Setup Assistant

3. Click the "Yes"
button in the Assistant to set up your computer
to use the Internet.

4. Click "Yes" to
confirm that you already have an Internet
Account.

5. Read the Introduction information
then click the right arrow.

6. Name the configuration "Niagara Internet" and select the Modem button.
Click the right arrow to continue.

7. Select your modem and port
from the lists. This will probably be the
Internal Modem Port unless you are using a
PowerBook then it may be the Modem/Printer
Port or PC Card slot. Click the right arrow
to continue.

8. Enter the appropriate phone
number:

Enter your username
and password. Click the right arrow to continue.

9. Select No for "Is there
an IP address for this configuration."
Click the right arrow button to continue.
10. Enter sysr.com for the Domain.
Click the right arrow to continue.

11. Enter your Niagara Internet
E-mail address and password. Click
the right arrow to continue.
12. Enter your Niagara Internet
E-mail address. The SMPT host is mail.sysr.com.
Click the right arrow to continue.

13. Enter news.sysr.com for
the NNTP host name. Click the
right arrow to continue.
14. To complete click "Go
Ahead."
You'll need the following information
to set up MacOS 9 to dial in to Niagara Internet.
Modem Settings
You'll need to know what kind of modem you have
(manufacturer and model or speed), which port
on your Mac its plugged into (modem port or
printer port), and whether your phone line has
tone or pulse dialing (almost everyone has tone
dialing these days).
Phone Numbers
Niagara Internet has several
modem dialup numbers for 56k, depending on your
location.
Username
This should be set to whatever you selected
as your username when you signed up for a Niagara Internet account. Make sure you enter your username
in all lowercase letters!
Password
This should be set to whatever you selected
or were assigned as your password when you signed
up for a Niagara Internet account. Your password
is case sensitive, too, make sure you enter
it exactly!
Domain Name Servers
These are server assigned.. Our Domain Name
is "sysr.com".
E-mail Address
Your email address is probably "username@sysr.com"
unless you have made other arrangements with
Niagara Internet. Your email password is the
same as your dialup password.
E-mail Account
Your POP email account is "username@sysr.com".
Our SMTP server is "mail.sysr.com".
News Server Host
Our NNTP server is "news.sysr.com".
